The Project

St. Peter Church partnered with J-Tek Construction to renovate the sanctuary’s choir loft and ceiling, creating a refreshed worship space while preserving the character of the existing church. The renovation focused on improving the condition of the sanctuary through a combination of ceiling reconstruction, structural modifications, updated flooring, and interior finish work.

Unlike many commercial renovation projects, this work took place inside an active place of worship with decades of history and architectural detail. Protecting the stained-glass windows, pews, altar, and surrounding finishes was just as important as completing the construction itself. Every phase of the renovation was carefully coordinated to respect the church’s ongoing ministry while creating a space that will continue serving the congregation for years to come.

Construction Process

Before any demolition began, J-Tek Construction installed extensive dust containment systems throughout the sanctuary to isolate the work area and protect the remainder of the church. Temporary barriers allowed construction to move forward while keeping surrounding spaces clean and minimizing disruption.

Once the work area was secured, the existing ceiling system was carefully removed, exposing the structural framing, insulation, and mechanical systems above the sanctuary. This allowed the team to complete framing modifications, coordinate electrical updates, and prepare the structure for the installation of a new ceiling system.

After the structural work was complete, the project moved into the finishing phase. New ceiling materials were installed, the choir loft received updated flooring, and the surrounding finishes were restored to create a clean, polished space ready for worship services and music ministry.

Before & During Construction

The photos below capture the transformation of the sanctuary as the renovation progressed. After the existing ceiling was removed, the structural framing above the worship space became fully exposed, revealing the extensive work required before reconstruction could begin. Temporary containment walls enclosed the entire work area, helping protect the stained-glass windows, pews, altar, and surrounding finishes while demolition and construction were underway.

Each stage of construction built on the one before it, documenting the transformation from an exposed structural framework to a finished worship space ready for the next generation of services and community gatherings. From exposed framing and ceiling reconstruction to the installation of new finishes in the choir loft, these progress photos provide a behind-the-scenes look at the craftsmanship and coordination required to renovate an active place of worship.

Finished Project

The completed renovation transformed the choir loft into a bright, clean, and welcoming space while maintaining the timeless character of St. Peter Church. The new ceiling creates a finished appearance throughout the sanctuary, updated flooring improves durability for musicians and worship leaders, and the refreshed interior enhances the overall worship experience for the congregation.

By combining thoughtful planning with quality craftsmanship, J-Tek Construction delivered improvements that modernize the space without taking away from the church’s architectural identity. The renovated sanctuary is now better equipped to support weekly services, music programs, weddings, funerals, and community gatherings for years to come.
